The Royal Wedding, the Monarchy, My View.

So there’s this Royal Wedding coming up. It seems to have brought a plethora of different reactions. Even T-moblie have their take on it. Poking fun at people is often a compliment and I must admit I thought it was very funny. They used look-alikes not technical tricks.
But what bugs me most about it, is those people who state that they are against the Monarchy and winge on about the tax-payer having to fork out to support what they seem to feel is an unneccessary, obsolete elitist group, who do nothing for the country. I’m afraid they are wrong. HM has loyally supported this country throughout her life. She has given up much to do a job where often there is no appreciation from dullards who gripe and moan and want a republic. President Blair. Yuk! President Brown? Yuk yuk!
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not an out-and-out royalist but I think credit where credit is deserved and I for one would never want to lose the Monarchy. Why? I hear you ask. Well it’s because it is part of our nationality. Britain needs the status abroad for a start. HM has done more to foster relations with other countries than any of our passing Prime Ministers. The Royals attract publicity and tourism. They also stand for our national identity.
My view of the wedding – it’s great! We’re having a National Holiday. We are having a party with champs, food and wine. I’m wearing a t-shirt in red white and blue. My better half has even bought some bunting.

For those of you who don’t approve, well tough. I’m English and proud of it. I’m even prouder to be able to witness part of England’s history and I will enjoy it. So stop the sour grapes and get on with having a great day!

I regard myself as a socialist, if a little jaded, but I was brought up to believe that our country is the best in the world, and I don't see anything wrong in that :) so good luck to them! Jane

You don't have to be anti-monarchy to believe in equal opportunity for all.
